Groveling Obeisance #4: The Thermals

I saw The Thermals play in Northampton downstairs at Pearl Street last summer.  They played this song:

I had forgotten A Pillar of Salt existed!  The song hit the memory spazoid node on my brain and my body reacted accordingly.

Then I bought the 7 inch and had a physical memento to go along with my forty-five minute long post-concert buzz.

Conclusion: The Thermals are real life punk rawk.

This one time, I spoke, on the internet, to Hutch Harris…

1.  Why do you make music?

mainly because it’s so much fun.  the fact that we get to do this for a living is totally amazing.  we’d be doing it either way.

2.  What records, off the top of your head, greatly changed the way you thought about music?

led zeppelin II, breeders “last splash”, subhumans “from the cradle to the grave”

3.  If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be, and why?

an owl, becaue when i wake up my hair makes me look like an owl.
